Lator 2 Gas Plant
The Gas Liquids Engineering team was responsible for Mechanical, Civil, and Structural design and construction support for this plant. (see also: http://www.aldraft.com/about_us)
The Lator 2 gas plant expansion project, which will increase the combined Lator 1 and Lator 2 capacity to 250 MMcf/d, continues to progress on schedule and budget. With the new combined plants, our customer reports that their processing efficiencies and value realizations are expected to rise as liquids removal rates improve to better align with Alliance Pipeline specifications. Pre-commissioning was scheduled to begin in September with first gas scheduled to flow through the plant on December 1, 2015.
Overview
- Inlet tie-in to existing plant in close proximity
- 400 bbl slop storage tank
- 20 MMBtu/h Heat Medium Heater
- 5.4 MMBtu/h De-ethanizer reboiler
- Skid packages for process units & utilities to minimize installation work at site
- Standardization of equipment and materials with other client facilities
- Site civil design and work including grading plans, office building, site roads, foundations and structural steel
- 514,000 kg of structural steel used
Major Challenges
- Significant grading design challenges due to 33m slope on existing lease and requirement for storm system design
- Cost and Schedule Sensitive project
- Parallel Engineering / Design / Construction
- Project Schedule compression
Successes
- Successfully reduced the drafting budget cost to 55% of initial client expectation
- Successfully compressed design / construction schedule by 2 months over initial client expectation
- Every major project deadline met or exceeded
- Construction priority shifts accommodated with no issues
- Changes initiated by the client were accommodated with minimal difficulty ‘on the fly’ without compromising cost, schedule, or quality.
- Excellent design consistency throughout the design and a portable design allowed for cost efficiencies on a second plant of similar scale for the same client
Our team turns vision into reality
